Geofencing is a new feature under development. It uses the physical location of your mobile device to put MyPlace in “Home” or “Away” mode. When your device’s location changes, any rules related to “Home” and “Away” modes will be affected. If you use Geofencing, check your MyPlace app alerts to be sure your home was armed each time you leave.
Geofencing establishes a virtual boundary circle 1/3 of a mile around your home (500 meters). A mode change will trigger when your device passes into or out of the zone.
If you are at home, in “Home” mode, and you leave this zone, two things should happen:
- You should get an alert: “Going into Away mode,” and
- Your mode should change to “Away.”
When you return to the zone, you should get an alert: “Arrive at Home,” and your mode should change to “Home.”
Note: It's best to engage wifi on your smartphone device that's enabled with Geofencing to ensure accurate location triggering.
